"Microphone check, 1-2, 1-2…Is this thing on!?!?!"

Some of the Rogue athletes come up with some interesting ways of getting themselves through the workouts. Take Dennis’ goblet squat technique for example.

Brian, of the 6AM crew set the standard for today’s workout with 13 rounds. Then this evening Caity and Kyle gave it a go and tied his number of rounds. The ladies attacked the deadlift portion of the workout today. “Sunshine” Amy pulled a 185 pound deadlift at the noon class. Sherri saw her 185 pounds and raised her another 5 pounds for a 190 pound deadlift. “Lady Bug” Amy, got aggressive, gave it a go and pulled 185 pounds too while Jennifer L. pulled 185 pounds 3 times!!! Nice work ladies!

"After you sir." "No, no, after you I insist."

OK maybe the niceties weren’t so formal but today’s workout required the athletes to pair up and complete a few exercise ladders as a buddy team. One athlete would do the set of reps while the other waited his or her turn.

Then later the coaches got together for a workout that was…a “DOOZY!” HA! That never gets old! I crack myself up. The workout however was very serious.

660 total burpees were executed today…

…by the Rogue athletes, all in farewell to Andy B. You would think that Andy would have felt slightly sorry for his compatriots. Nope. He sat there and coached everyone making sure that they got enough height on the jump and clapped their hands at the top. He’ll make a fine Marine Corps officer.

The Rogue athletes also worked on the snatch today. We are seeing some excellent technique and it is starting to pay off in numbers. Rodger S. nailed a PR lift of 155 pounds and is good for 175 pounds next time.
Great job today everyone.

Andy will be heading to Virginia to enter active duty as a Marine Corps 2d Lieutenant. He will definitely be missed.

Good luck buddy!!!

P.S.
Andy don’t think we forgot about these shenanigans either.

"Man makers" made yet another appearance at Rogue!

The ever popular “man maker” made an appearance today at Rogue. “Man makers” rank right up there with the burpee in popularity we believe. But there is no denying it. The “man maker” works the body pretty good. Now all you have to do to complete the day, like Bill says, “go home and eat a steak.”

The guys better watch out…

…because the ladies are getting strong. We had 4 big time personal records (PR) in the push jerk today. Sunshine Amy busted out 95# three times. While Julie tossed 95# over her head once but she only weighs 115 pounds! Sorry Julie if that was supposed to be classified info.

Yesterday we talked intensity…

…and today the Rogue Athletes showed us coaches that they understand what intensity is and how to shoot it through the roof!

Up the intensity!

If you want to elevate your performance to the next level then you need to up the intensity. There are a few ways to do that. Move more weight during the workout; complete the workout faster; or move more weight faster during the workout. Today I saw many of the Rogue athletes doing all of the above on their own. Some stepped up to a bigger kettlebell, some took fewer rests during the workout, and others “flipped the switch”.

NICE JOB!!
