Reebok CrossFit Shoes

The long-awaited Reebok CrossFit Shoes have arrived. A year in the making, these shoes have an interesting history. First Reebok sought input from current and prior games competitors, including Josh Everett. They had the competitors wear them at the games and then sought feedback. They also had their employees wear them at the CrossFit gym at Reebok headquarters for several months and used their feedback to further improve the shoes.

The end product of all of this development is two shoes:

One is an Olympic weightlifting shoe that has a forefoot that is flexible enough to be great for box jumps, double unders, rope climbs and even short sprints.

The other is a running shoe that is stable enough for lifting.

Both shoes are reinforced to survive anything a CrossFitter can throw at them including rope climbs and feature U form technology so you can customize the shoes to fit you perfectly.

The first shipment of women’s shoes has arrived, but we are still waiting on the men’s. When these come in, they will sell out fast. Make sure you sign up for rapid fire updates so you will know the moment they arrive.

Dynamax Hoover Balls

Hooverball is a game that was invented by President Herbert Hoover’s doctor to help him stay in shape while in office. It is played on a field similar to a volleyball court and is scored like tennis.

“It required less skill than tennis, was faster and more vigorous, and therefore gave more exercise in a short time,” Hoover wrote in his Memoirs.

“Except for Sundays, we played medicine ball every morning of the week, including official holidays,” Secretary of the Interior Ray Lyman Wilbur wrote in his Memoirs. “Only absence from Washington kept us away.”

“We paid no attention to the weather except for a very heavy rain. We played in cold and wind, snow and rain, and in the four years we were driven indoors only two or three times, because of an unusually drenching downpour.”

After Hoover’s Presidency was over, the game continued. There are several tournaments around the world and a national championship is hosted each year in Iowa.

A few years ago, the medicine balls that were used in the championship went out of production. Dynamax was asked to provide the official Hooverballs and has done so ever since.

CrossFit Kid’s Gear

With so many CrossFit Kids programs out there, there is a need for equipment that younger CrossFitters can handle, we sell several products here that are a great addition to any kids program or to your garage gym so your kids can become athletic giants along with you.

Lighter bars are essential for teaching the lifts. We offer 5 KG (11 Pound) Aluminum and 10 KG (22 Pound) Steel bars that identical to a standard women’s Olympic Weightlifting bar between the collars. They have free spinning sleeves and can be used for both Olympic lifting and Powerlifting movements in a children’s program. If you add some 5 Pound or 2.5 KG Rogue Hi-Temp plates you have a full sized 21 Pound or 10 KG bar that is raised off of the ground and perfect for teaching the lifts or doing workouts.

A full sized, 14″, Dynamax ball can be a little awkward in the hands of a 4-year-old. Years ago, I called up Jim Cawley of Dynamax and asked him if he could make us several Hoover Balls for a 2nd grade CrossFit program that one of our instructors was teaching. They worked perfectly and several other programs have begun using them with their kids. The 10-inch size allows children to catch the ball comfortably while still providing enough padding to keep things safe.

The kids pull up bar that attaches to our infinity rigs and squat stands are discussed in greater depth here. The ability to have a bar with infinite height adjustability adds tremendously to your program.

Our Kids Wooden Rings have a 1.10″ diameter thickness with a proportionately scaled ring diameter. This allows for the perfect grip and positioning for smaller hands. The components used for the Rogue Kids Rings are manufactured and assembled to the same exacting standards as our adult rings.

Paleo Crunch Grainless Granola Cereal

Cinnamon Paleo Crunch is a grainless granola cereal for people who are gluten intolerant or following the Paleo or Primal nutrition guidelines. It is made from coconut, pumpkin seeds, walnuts, pecans, almonds, sunflower seeds, cinnamon, and honey can be eaten as a cereal or a snack, sprinkled on applesauce or tossed with almond milk, fruit or coconut milk.

It is so good, you will not miss the grains at all. Even my kids love it!

Because of the lack of grains, it has quite a bit more protein and fat than a traditional cereal, and quite a bit less carbohydrate.

Not only is it a great product, a portion of the price goes to support Steve’s Club, an organization that provides a national network of programs through which at-risk or underserved youth of any socioeconomic background can join in the CrossFit Community at a reduced, low or no cost structure.

Which Bumpers Do I Buy?

Rogue Bumper Plates By Hi-Temp – Pounds in Black and Kilograms with Color

The workhorse of the Rogue Line. These are made in Tuscumbia, Alabama from recycled tires that are pressed into bumpers with heavy duty stainless steel hubs.

There are many advantages to this design. First the bumpers have a beveled edge that makes them easy to pick-up even at heavy weights, second the outer rim of the bumper is wider than the center so the hubs do not bang against each other. This keeps the hubs from wearing out the way many other bumper designs will. Third, these bumpers are softer than the other types of bumpers we carry, which should make them a little easier on the floor. The softness also somewhat limits the distance that the vibration caused by dropping them will travel through the floor, as the plates bend and then return to their original shape absorbing some of the impact. Forth, these bumpers are virtually indestructible. They can be dropped on bare concrete and will never wear out. With the exception of the full diameter 10 pound plates, which could get damaged if you went out of your way to load up iron outside of them and then drop them repeatedly, you can’t hurt these plates with normal or abnormal gym use.

There are only a few disadvantages to this design. One is that they take up more room on the bar per unit of weight than the other designs so you can only fit around 400 pounds on the bar. However, this can be solved, by adding iron plates outside of the bumpers. Another disadvantage is that since they are soft, and bounce when you drop them, they may bounce somewhat erratically so you need to pay attention to the bar when dropping the weight. This is much more of an issue with weights around 95 pounds and under. The higher the weight on the bar, the less it bounces. Last, there are some people who do not like the rough surface of the plates and would prefer that their plates have a more polished look. However, if you want to buy one set of bumpers and have them last forever, these are the plates you are looking for.

These are an excellent choice for commercial CrossFit Gyms as well as home gyms.

Hi-Temp bumpers are also available in kilograms with colored rims. These great for Olympic Weightlifting, whether you have a nice platform, or you are lifting in your driveway.

HG Rogue Bumpers – Pounds in Black

HG Rogue Bumpers are made in China from virgin rubber with stainless steel inserts. The New HG’s are very durable, the only place that Hi-Temps have the edge are for an outdoor plate. The virgin rubber allows the manufacturer to provide a smooth finish that will look great in even the most upscale gyms. There are other virgin rubber products out there that have brass inserts. The softer brass inevitably gets bent and plates end up a little loose on the bar. With the stainless steel inserts, this will never be a problem. These are also a little thinner than the Hi-Temps allowing you to get up to around 500 pounds on the bar. The rubber is harder than the Hi-Temps, so they bounce a little less and are easier to control when dropped.

Rogue Training Bumper Plates – Pounds in Black

Rogue Full Color Competition Bumpers – Pounds and Kilograms

These are the plates that were used at the CrossFit games in 2010 and 2011.

Rogue Training Bumpers and Rogue Full Color Competition Bumpers are some of the best in the world. They are built to the same standards and in the same manner as the plates used in Olympic Weightlifting competitions. There are several inches of rubber outside of a central steel disk. The rubber is harder than the other types of bumpers, so the plates hardly bounce at all when dropped. They also are much thinner per unit weight than the other types of plates, so you will not run out of room on the bar no matter how strong you or your clients are.

If you have never lifted with competition plates, you are in for a treat. There is a very tight tolerance between the bar and the hubs so your starting position is always completely steady.

No plate leaves the warehouse if it differs from its stated weight by more than 10 grams.

They are available in full color pounds and kilograms as well as black pounds.

Eleiko Disks – Training, Competition and Sets

Eleiko Full Color Competition Discs have long been the standard by which all other Olympic Weightlifting plates are measured. Every batch of Eleiko rubber discs is tested for 5000 drops. High-quality rubber and a special steel hub guaranty durability. Each disc is also calibrated. According to the IWF rules a disc weighing more than 5 kg must be +0,1% and -0,05%. This means that a 25 kg disc can at most weigh 25 grams more than it should. An Eleiko 25-kg competition disc very seldom weighs more than 8–10 grams more than it should.

The black training plates are manufactured to the same standards, but not calibrated.

Rogue  Hi-tech Plates (Training Plates)- Pounds and Kilograms

These plates were an invention of world record holder Mercedes Dickerson. She was looking for good light, but solid training plates. She had a friend of hers cut two disks made out of plastic from garbage can lids and used to bring them to training and meets. Everyone wanted to borrow them or wanted to get a pair, so she put them into production. They are made in the U.S.A. from recycled materials. They are the only 5 pound and 2.5 kilogram plates out there that are full size and rock solid. Due to the fact that they are made out of plastic, they are much wider than other plates of the same weight, so they will stand completely solid like competition plates and will not rock from side to side. They are virtually indestructible. You never have to worry about breaking these plates. Even if you load iron on the outside, at drop them, they will not break. These plates are rigid, so they are loud when dropped, and do not bounce much. However, it is not the deep vibrating type of noise that carries over to your neighbors, it is a higher pitched sound that can be stopped by walls. These plates are excellent for training beginners and children. They are also perfect for experienced lifters, whether practicing form or warming up.

They are available in pounds from 5 pounds to 15 pounds and in kilograms from 2.5 KG to 10 KG.

Rogue CB-1 Camber Bar

The Rogue CB-1 is for serious lifters that need more from their posterior chain.

It is a fully welded, 85 pound, 1.5 inch bar with machined Olympic sleeves.

It’s rackable so athletes can train with any of our power racks, squat stands or Infinity Rigs. The bar is farther in front of the midline, placing the emphasis on the hamstrings and the lower back. It allows the upper body to stay vertical, training proper form to get max depth and explosiveness through a full range of motion. This means that you will get stronger, fast, while preventing the likelihood of future injury – under any bar.

In addition to back squats, the CB-1 is excellent for heavy good mornings and Zercher squats.

New Inov8 F-Lite 195 Colors

The Inov8 F-Lite 195 is one of the most commonly used shoes in CrossFit for many reasons:

They are some of the lightest shoes out there, weighing in at just 195 grams, and they are a sturdy, flexible, supportive, flat-soled shoe that can withstand most every demand that you’d encounter in CrossFit.

There is a minimal, 3 mm, the differential between the heel and toe. This minimal differential maximizes an athlete’s overall speed, power, stability, and responsiveness, whether forward, vertically, or laterally. This translates into excellent stability for many of the core lifts. The shoes are also perfect for POSE method running and bodyweight movements like pull-ups, box jumps, and burpees.

There are now two new colors available Gray/Red and Stormtrooper.

The Redesigned S-Series Squat Stands

Available in 4 versions with different heights, 72” (S-1) and (S-4), 92” (S-2) and 110” (S-3). The new S-Series Squat Stands are compatible with many of the attachments of the Infinity racks to provide everything you need for a world-class strength and conditioning program, while only taking up a 4×4 foot area of floor space.

The H-Base S-4 squat stand separates offer even more efficient floor usage as they can be stored against the wall when not in use. They are also probably the most rock solid independent stands available.

In addition to using any of the stands for squats, presses, bench presses, clean or snatch pulls, the S-2 and S-3 add the ability to use the stands for pull-ups and ring work including dips, pushups and muscle ups. The 92” S-2 places the pull-up bar high enough for most athletes, but the 110” S-3 will get the bar high enough for just about anyone.

The S-2 and S-3 come standard with a fat/skinny pull-up bar allowing you to choose either a 1.25” or 2” bar thickness. Possible additional configurations include adding a Dirty South pull-up bar to the S-2 or S-3 for 2 different pull-up heights, as well as adding spotter bars, wheels or feet to attach the rack to the ground for the S-1, S-2 or S-3. You can also add horizontal plate storage to the sides. With your S-2 or S-3 bolted into the ground or your platform or with enough weight on the side storage, you can use it for kipping pull-ups and with the addition of the Dirty South bar attachment to your ground anchored stand, it will even work for bar muscle ups.

All 4 stands use the same West Side Hole Pattern as the R-3 Rack and Infinity Racks: 1” spacing at bench press/clean pull zone and 2” spacing above and below. They also all come with the new Rogue low profile J-cups with UHMW plastic liners to protect the knurling on your bars.

Like everything Rogue makes, these are built like tanks. They are made in the U.S.A with 2×3” steel with laser cut holes and 5/8” bolts and fasteners. Any parts that had the potential of wearing out like threaded pins were avoided, so you will be able to pass this stuff down to your grandchildren.

Rogue Dog Sled

If you don’t regularly push and pull sleds in your workouts, you do not know what you are missing, and you will feel your lack of preparedness if called upon to perform this movement in competition or in life. This fact was proven at the 2011 CrossFit Games where the sled workout was often the deciding factor in determining where in the ranking order an athlete would end up.

Sled work is not only extraordinarily metabolically taxing, pushing a heavy sled calls upon coordination of muscles from your feet, to your hands and everywhere in between. In this way, the exercise is similar to the overhead squat.

The U.S.A made Rogue Dog Sled is not only the most cost-effective push and pull a sled on the market, its small footprint makes it easier to store and move around and the small amount of total surface area helps you maximize the plates that you have available. It also includes plastic skids to ensure that you do not damage your floors. Get one and take your athletic gains to the next level!
